The intraoral scanner is a technological tool that allows us to create a 3D digital file of the patient's mouth.

The main diseases affecting periodontal dentition are periodontitis and gingivitis. Periodontal disease manifests as gingivitis (inflammation of the gingiva, and bleeding without affecting the bone) and periodontitis, where the bone that supports the tooth suffers destruction. If not treated early, either can lead to tooth loss.
Today, with the advent of implants, periodontics is also responsible for the prevention and treatment of diseases like peri-implantitis.

This procedure begins with an inspection of the entire mouth, including soft tissues such as the tongue, cheeks, floor of the mouth, and palate. In the event of finding a lesion, the patient is re-appointed with the corresponding specialist dentist.
Prophylaxis is the washing and polishing of the teeth, it is carried out with a paste that contains fluoride to smooth dental surfaces and remove stains using rubber cups and brushes.
Scaling is the procedure aimed at removing bacterial plaque and tartar from the dental surface, which can be supraginigival or subgingival, eliminating hard deposits from the clinical crown of the tooth.
The entire procedure is followed by health education, in which knowledge about hygiene techniques and diet is imparted. The aim is to re-educate the patient to achieve re-motivation, and thus lower the risk of contracting diseases.
IMPLANTS
Dr. Gonzalo Borgia Stagnaro is head of operations for the clinic. He performs all procedures that require oral surgery, including: periodontal treatments, extractions, grafts and dental implants.
Dr. Gonzalo Borgia Stagnaro, is a doctor of dentistry for the School of Dentistry at the University of the Republic (UdelaR, 2005 to present).
In 2006 and 2007 he resided in Sao Paulo, Brazil where, he completed two specialized degrees as well as completing a variety of other courses.
In 2006 he was selected for a specialization course in dental implants at the University of Sao Paulo (USP) with Prof. Dr. F. F. Todescan. Simultaneously he completed another specialization course in oral and maxillofacial prosthetics at the Brazilian Association of Dental Education (ABENO).
The specialist qualifications he received are recognized by the Regional Council of Dentistry and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Brazil.
He completed a ten month course in advanced surgical implants studying under Dr. Wilson Polo in his private clinic located in Santo Andre, Sao Paulo. He also participated in a six month course in oral surgery at the Paulista Association of Dental Surgeons (APCD) with Prof. Dr. Waldyr Antonio Jorge.
While at APCD he also completed a six month course on periodontal plastic surgery with Prof. Dr. Glecio Vaz dos Campos. When he returned to Uruguay, Dr. Gonzalo Borgia was awarded the position of Assistant Grade 2 in oral and maxillofacial prosthetics in the School of Dentistry at the University of the Republic after submitting to an open call based on examination of merit. He then completed a postgraduate course in osseointegrated rehabilitation implants at the graduate school obtaining the title of Assistant Grade 2 in that area as well.
Dr. Gonzalo Borgia is also a member of the Latin American Society for Oral and Maxillofacial Prosthetics, the Latin American Society of Osseointegration and an ITI member. He has attended multiple courses, national and international conferences, as both a participant and lecturer.
He is Master and Doctor (PhD) in implants from the Federal University Rio Grande do Sul (U.F.R.G.S.- Brazil)
PROSTHETICS
Dr. Jose Luis Borgia Botto is head of clinical operations for the clinic. He performs rehabilitative treatments from a functional and aesthetic standpoint. These prostheses are created in an integrated and multidisciplinary in conjunction with the implants installed by Dr. Gonzalo Borgia.
Since 1980 Dr. José Luis Borgia Botto has been a doctor of dentistry for the School of Dentistry at the University of the Republic (UdelaR).
Since 1983 he has served as assistant in prosthodontics and temporo-mandibular joint disorders in the department of rehabilitation at the School of Dentistry (UdelaR).
For four years he was co-instructor for a graduate course in temporo-mandibular joint disorders.
Since 1982 he has been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. He is a member of several societies, instructs courses and lectures nationally and internationally.
He is an acting specialist in prosthodontics holding a degree from the School of Dentistry (UdelaR, 2010).
ENDODONTIC TREATMENTS
Dr. Susana Fiat is responsible for performing endodontic treatment at the Borgia clinic.
Dr. Susana Fiat holds her degree in dentistry from the School of Dentistry of the Universidad of the Republic (UdelaR, 2008). In 2010 and 2011, she studied the first and second module of her postgraduate course in endodontics with the Uruguayan Dental Association.
Simultaneously, she completed a course on mechanized instrumentation with Dr. P. Matchou (France).
In 2011 she participated in a theoretical and practical workshop on mechanized instrumentation with Dr. R. Hilu (Argentina).v
In 2012 she attended a theory course in mechanized instrumentation with Dr. Kutler (USA).
Since 2008 she has performed the root canal tasks for the Borgia Clinic. According to the needs of each patient she uses combined techniques of conventional root canals along with mechanized instrumentation methods. She has participated in various national and international conferences.
PEDIATRIC DENTIST
Dr. Graciela Brantuas is the clinic's pediatric dentist and performs orthopedic and orthodontic treatments for both children and adults.
She received her degree in dentistry from the Dental School of the University of the Republic in 1986.
She completed her post-graduate coursework at the School of Dentistry, receiving her degree from the University of the Republic in 1988.
Dr. Graciela Brantaus continued her studies under other notable professionals: Dr. Stephen Moss (USA) and, Dr. Hugo Rossetti (Argentina). She has also taken several refresher courses with different teachers at UdelaR periodically.
Between 1986 and 1988 she was part of the emergency team at the school of dentistry (UdelaR).
She furthered her studies in comprehensive care of children and adolescents by continuing her training in orthopedics and orthodontics in IESS Institute between 1999 and 2003. She completed specialized courses in that area with Dr. Sandra Garmendia. Between 2003 and 2005 and she also attended the advanced course in orthodontics and diagnostics in said institution.
In 2010 Dr. Brantuas traveled to Chile, where she completed a course on Invisalign, taught by Dr. Miguel Matuk (Mexico). This technique uses a series of clear plastic aligners to straighten teeth as an alternative to using the traditional metal braces.
She also incorporates the “Micro implants” treatment, having received courses from Dr. Echarry (Uruguay), Dr. Hee-Moon Kyung (Korea), Dr. Marco Marassi (Brazil) and, Dr. Gustavo Gregoret (Argentina). She also utilizes self-ligating braces and studied them in orthodontics with Dr. L. N. Núñez (Uruguay).
Between 2002 and 2010, she taught as well as performed preventive-care tasks in the Polyclinic Solidarity [Group], which worked with the Municipality of Montevideo. In 2007 and 2008 she helped establish agreements between the polyclinic and the NGO, “Shore 3 of France”, which funded a care project in oral and maxillofacial orthopedics.
Since 1994 she has worked as a pediatric dentist in ANDA, a position she obtained through competitive examination and merits earned from her degree in Dentistry.
Along with this extensive history, she is also a part of this interdisciplinary team, practicing in her field in her other offices as well (1986 to present).
COMPREHENSIVE PREVENTION
Dr. Carolina Ferreira is responsible for the periodic check-ups for the patients of the Borgia clinic. She conducts the prophylaxis and periodontal treatment which are at the fundamental root of the clinic's concept of comprehensive preventive care.
She holds a degree in Dentistry from the School of Dentistry at the Universidad of the Republic (UdelaR, 2005).
She furthered her studies in the Department of Pharmacology in 2001 and 2002.
In 2007 she obtained the position of Assistant by competitive examination of merit in the Department of Pharmacology, where she worked until 2010.
Between 2009 and 2010, she completed a postgraduate course in practice and theory of oral-maxillofacial surgery at the School of Dentistry with Prof. Dr. Claudio Jimenez (UdelaR).
She also completed a refresher course in clinical periodontics and implantology in the graduate School of Dentistry (UdelaR).
Assistant Professor of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics F.O. (UdelaR) 2017-2020. Specialist in Periodontology graduated from the Maimonides Faculty (BsAs - Argentina), 2017.
ODONTOLOGIST
Dr. Victoria Capeche is a Dentist graduated from the School of Dentistry of the Catholic University of Uruguay (Ucudal).
He has been working at the Clinic since 2016. In the year 2021, it is accredited by the KeepSmiling company (Argentina) to work with its aligners. He is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in the specialization of Orthodontics, at the I.E.S.S.
DENTAL ASSISTANT
Florencia Cetrulo has worked at Clínica Borgia as a dental assistant since 2017, she is in charge of performing oral scans.
He obtained his dental assistant degree in 2014, and later that of Dental Laboratory in 2016. Both were awarded by the F.O. (UdelaR).
DENTAL HYGIENIST
Mrs. Jacqueline De los Santos currently works as an assistant for Dr. Gonzalo Borgia in clinical and surgical procedures.
She received her degrees in dental assistance in 1984, in dental hygiene in 1985, and later received a degree as a dental laboratory technician in 1995. All awarded by the School of Dental Technology, School of Dentistry, University of the Republic.
In 1986 she was appointed substitute dental hygienist in Casef, Casmu through competitive examination of merit, and as of 2012 she has been designated as a dental assistant in the Uruguayan Medical [Group] also by competitive examination of merit.
Between 1987 and 1994, she served as an assistant hygienist and surgical assistant with Dr. Gustavo Sales.
REHABILITATION
Dr. Juana Rodriguez carries out the restorative treatments, from the functional and aesthetic point of view.
She is a Doctor of Dentistry (FO, UdelaR) and a specialist in Restorative dentistry (FO, UdelaR).
She is a grade 2 assistant at the Operative Dentistry department (FO, UdelaR), and has scientific publications in international journals on the subject.
MAINTENANCE
Ms. Susana Delgado has been cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining the facilities of Clínica Borgia since 2014.
She has a long and vast experience in these activities. It currently plays a fundamental role in the maintenance and compliance of the Covid-19 protocols.
DENTAL HYGIENIST
Florencia Prego has been an Assistant and Dental Hygienist at the Borgia Clinic since 2014.
She is a Dental Hygienist, trained in 2008 at the University of Chicago in Illinois (Kennedy King College), United States. Later he revalidated the title, in F.O. of the UdelaR.
She is also a student of Dentistry at the F.O. of the UdelaR.
ODONTOLOGIST
Dr. Agustina Polliotto is a dentist trained at the Catholic University of Córdoba (Córdoba - Argentina) in 2016.
She obtains her revalidation of a Doctor of Dentistry degree issued by the FO of the UdelaR in 2020. She is an Invisalign Doctor certified in Montevideo - Uruguay in 2019. He is currently pursuing a postgraduate specialization in Orthodontics at the Argentine Society of Orthodontics (Buenos Aires - Argentina).
